A Low GWP Working Fluid for Transcritical Rankine Power Cycles

This paper briefly reviews basic properties of HFO-1336mzz-Z (cis-CF3CH=CHCF3), reports new data on the compatibility of HFO-1336mzz-Z with plastic and elastomeric materials and evaluates HFO-1336mzz-Z as a potential working fluid for Organic Rankine Cycles (ORC) driven by, relatively, high temperature heat (expander inlet at 175-250 oC). HFO-1336mzz-Z has a favorable toxicity profile (based on testing to date), it is non-flammable at 60 oC and 100 oC and offers a very low GWP of 2.

Very Low GWP Replacements r 404a performance tests commercial Freezer

R-404A has been the global industry standard HFC refrigerant for commercial refrigeration in both small and large systems. However, due to its high global warming potential (AR4 100 year GWP = 3922), lower GWP alternatives to R-404A are urgently needed.

Multi-Year Evaluation of R-449A as a Replacement for R-22 in Low Temperature and Medium Temperature Refrigeration Applications

HCFC based refrigerants, such as R-22, are being phased out globally due to issues with stratospheric ozone depletion. In order to effectively do so, a series of HFC blend alternatives, such as R-407C and R-404A, have been introduced.

Hot Surface Ignition Testing of Low GWP 2L Refrigerants

The demand for environmentally sustainable substances is high. The number of low global warming (GWP) refrigerants entering the market is rapidly increasing to meet environmental needs. Many of the new low GWP refrigerants are “mildly flammable” or “2L” as classified by ISO 817 and ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 34 (ISO 2014, ASHRAE 2008).
