Why A2L Refrigerants Pave the Way for the Future of the RAC Industry

In the wake of continued and emerging regulations around refrigerants, the refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) industry is actively seeking environmentally sustainable refrigerants with low global warming potential (GWP) and zero ozone depletion potential (ODP).

Recent innovation using hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) chemistry has led to the development of high-performing, low-GWP, zero ODP refrigerants. These HFO refrigerants reliable and efficient, but unlike their hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) and hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) counterparts, they carry the mildly flammable ASHRAE A2L safety rating.
